Allyssa Van Cuyk is a 23 year old fine artist and children's book illustrator currently residing in Ocala, Florida. She graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Illustration from Ringling College of Art and Design in 2023, and has since been focusing on illustrating a series of 5 children’s books in addition to live wedding painting and freelance gallery work.
StatementHi, my name is Allyssa Van Cuyk and I am a multidisciplinary fine artist and illustrator. I particularly love plein air oil painting, specifically nature-centered landscapes such as beaches and forest scenery. I strive to bring attention to the priceless beauty of nature by using highly saturated color, thick textures and bold brushstrokes, and illustrating the way light gently falls upon flora, fauna, and bodies of water. Additionally, I adore children’s book illustration and the power it wields to make a difference in the world. I am passionate about including messages in my work that highlight the importance of worldwide equality for LGBTQ+ and BIPOC members, environmental health and climate change awareness, and abuse prevention education.
