In the fantasy genre, particularly games, the Mimic is a creature that gets rather underused. It changes into objects to trick its prey but doesn't get much more narrative use than a one-off monster. Considering this, I have been playing around with the idea of a Humanoid-Mimic symbiotic relationship. What if a group of people domesticated Mimics the way ancient humans domesticated dogs? In this piece, one such person has their Mimic disguised as a tile in the floor. This is part of a growing body of work exploring this idea of Human-Mimic symbiosis.
