After moving to Florida, she pursued art further, earning a degree in graphic design. Her career spanned shoe design, product development, and graphic design, but her passion for painting remained her constant drive. In 2002, she began painting for an art company, creating over a thousand original works mass-produced for major retailers like Neiman Marcus and Bed Bath & Beyond. While continuing her personal art practice and participating in art shows, Jen took a bold step toward becoming a fine artist. Inspired by Nelson Shanks’ work, she enrolled in Studio Incamminati in Philadelphia, founded by Shanks, where she completed their rigorous four-year program in classical Italian realism with distinction. Jen was awarded a teaching fellowship and became a core instructor at the school. In 2011, Jen returned to Florida, where she continues to create and teach. She is currently preparing for a solo exhibition while working on commissioned portraits. Jen works in various mediums, including painting, drawing, resin, and sculpture. Statement

Jen Bowen's work is a journey through the human form, where each brushstroke seeks to capture the profound narrative embedded within the figure. Her oil paintings, often figurative in nature, explore the intersection of identity, emotion, and symbolism. Bowen's use of animals as metaphors weaves a delicate thread between the natural world and the inner landscapes of the human experience. Each subject, whether human or animal, is a reflection of deeper truths—offering glimpses of vulnerability, strength, and transformation. Her compositions invite the viewer to confront their own perceptions of self and the world, creating a dialogue between the seen and the unseen. Through rich textures and thoughtful contrasts, Bowen crafts works that transcend the figurative, evoking both the tangible and the intangible. With every piece, she invites her audience into a space of quiet introspection, where the power of symbolism illuminates the complexities of the human spirit.
